Weaning Ceremonies
Honouring your body, your bond, and the ritual of letting go
FOR ANY MOTHER WHO HAS CEASED BREASTFEEDING
Weaning is a rite of passage.
Just like birth, just like first steps—this moment matters.
It marks the closing of a chapter that was written in liquid gold.
For some, it comes after years. For others, days.
For some, it is a choice. For others, it is not.
Whatever your story, it is worthy of being honoured.
❈
This is a ceremony for all mothers who have given from their bodies.
For the mother who never got the breastfeeding journey she hoped for.
For the mother who breastfed for years.
For the mother who pumped around the clock, waiting for it to get easier.
For the mother who weaned because her body said ‘no more’.
For the mother who weaned to return to work.
For the mother who weaned because she was ready.
No matter your experience—whether there is grief, celebration, relief, sadness, pride, or all of it at once—you are welcome here.
This is your moment to be witnessed, to be held.

A RITUAL FOR MOTHERS IN TRANSITION
Breastfeeding is deeply woven into our Matrescence—the ongoing becoming of mother.
We give so much. Our time. Our rest. Our freedom.
We offer our bodies. We are life.
But what happens when it ends?
There is often no ritual, no acknowledgement.
Only a quiet change, a silent ache, a whispered relief.
And yet—it is a moment bursting with meaning.
Let’s change that.
Let’s create space for your story.
Let’s celebrate your giving, mourn what is gone, and honour who you are becoming.
WHO IS A WEANING CEREMONY FOR?
These ceremonies are for any woman who has stopped breastfeeding.
Whether it was a tumultuous journey or a blissful one. Whether you breastfed for a week or for five years.
You may be grieving.
You may be ready to dance.
You may not know what you feel.
Let’s find out together, gently, with reverence.
EVERY ENDING IS ALSO A BEGINNING
When we honour weaning, we are honouring not just the end of something beautiful and hard, but the beginning of something new.
A new phase of motherhood.
A reclamation of your body.
A rediscovery of your sensual self.
This is not just a ceremony about milk.
It is about love. Womanhood.
It is about you.
What happens during a Weaning Ceremony with The Bayside Doula?
Each ceremony is shaped around you—your experience, your desires, your story. We can co-create the ceremony together, or I can liaise with someone close to you to surprise and delight you. Some mothers bring their baby or child to the ceremony.
Some prefer to come alone, to fully drop into their own process.
All is welcome.

Every ceremony begins with my womens circle guidelines:
✿ We speak from the heart and share our own lived experience
✿ We honour all stories without comparison or judgement
✿ We listen with compassion, not advice
✿ We respect privacy and confidentiality
✿ We understand this is a space of support, not therapy (though I can help you find that if you need it)
✿ We welcome all feelings—messy, complicated, beautiful
