Postpartum Support Is Not Designed for Rich People, Actually.
Postpartum doula care isn’t just for the wealthy; it’s for real families who know they don’t want to do this alone. The reality is that the rich already have their village built. For the rest of us, postpartum support is about intentionally creating one so mothers feel nourished, rested, and truly supported in those tender early months.
Leave the men at home.
I remember when I birthed my first baby. My own mother hadn’t before seen my breasts yet all of a sudden I was learning to breastfeed in front of everyone! If I had my time over I would do it so differently, including asking our male friends to stay home.
Can we have our postpartum bubble and eat it too?
In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need signs on the front door requesting short visits, or meal train schedules or maybe even Doulas! In a perfect world the knowledge about postpartum care would be innate.
