You’ll go into debt for a new car, but not for postpartum.
A genuinely supported postpartum, if you don't have family nearby, if you don't have a built-in village, could cost thousands. And yet if I suggested to most people that they take out a personal loan for their postpartum, they'd think I'd lost the plot. But every one of my friends has financed a bigger car when they were expecting. Same debt. Completely different reaction. That's not logic. That's culture.
Postpartum Support Is Not Designed for Rich People, Actually.
Postpartum doula care isn’t just for the wealthy; it’s for real families who know they don’t want to do this alone. The reality is that the rich already have their village built. For the rest of us, postpartum support is about intentionally creating one so mothers feel nourished, rested, and truly supported in those tender early months.
